Abstract

This short note describes the first discovery of the alien species Pseudorasbora parva (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846) in the Liguria Region (North-Western Italy); the population of this species, observed on July 30, 2014 along the River Bormida di Spigno (Municipality of  Piana Crixia, SV), was well structured. The presence of topmouth gudgeon is a critical factor that requires actions to contain the possible expansion of this species in Liguria.
