RESTING STAGES OF CORVOSPONGILLA SP. (DEMOSPONGIAE, SPONGILLIDAE) FROM MESOPOTAMIA, IRAQ
Abstract
Discovery of freshwater sponges belonging to the genus Corvospongilla is recorded from one of the main tributaries of the River Tigris in Iraq. Water quality of the sponge habitat is characterised. Gemmules of two morphs are described by SEM. The gemmular role in survival and dispersal strategies is also discussed.Downloads
