Information For Authors

About Gender is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal that welcomes original contributions with an explicit gender perspective from diverse disciplines and methodological approaches.

The journal publishes articles in Italian, English, and Spanish, and accepts both theoretical and empirical submissions.

If you are interested in submitting a contribution, please refer to our full editorial guidelines.

About Gender uses the anti-plagiarism software Magister by Compilatio.net to check all submitted papers.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review, meaning two referees review the manuscript anonymously.

To ensure anonymity during the review process, authors are required to:

  • Remove their names from the manuscript and replace any identifying references with “Author” and the year (e.g., in citations, footnotes, and the bibliography);
  • Omit or redact acknowledgements or mentions of collaborations that could reveal their identity;
  • Delete identifying metadata from the file properties.

If the article is accepted, authors will be invited to reinsert their identifying details after completing the peer review process and final revisions.

The peer review process cannot be initiated if the submitted manuscript does not comply with the required anonymisation standards. In such cases, a new submission may be made once all personal and identifying information has been removed from the proposal file.
