Abstract

This paper examines the intersection between gender, the climate crisis, and mobility, with particular attention to the legal implications. Drawing on concrete cases, it analyzes how the patriarchal structures of societies affected by the impacts of the climate crisis amplify the consequences of environmental disasters on women, increasing their exposure to risks and influencing mobility choices. In the context of the climate crisis, women’s social roles affect not only the possibility of migrating, but also the forms of movement and the conditions of reception. The article calls for the adoption of migration and climate policies based on a gender-sensitive approach-policies capable not only of protecting the rights of migrant women, but also of enhancing their active role in building new forms of resilience within communities affected by climate change, adopting a perspective that considers both countries of origin and those of potential destination.
