Il potere della legge e la legge del potere: il ruolo dell’intellettuale. La situazione politica del Mondo Arabo nelle opere di Nahidh Al Ramadhani

Abstract

Nahidh Al Ramadhani, an Iraqi writer and dramatist born in Al Mosel in 1964, is one of the best contemporary writers in the Arab world. Only lately it was possible to translate some of his works in which he offers an overview of the real political situation in the Middle East.
Al Ramadhani is mostly concerned with the image of the intellectual. In the Arab world, where tyranny domains, the intellectual has a fundamental role. Through his writings or speeches the intellectual participates actively in politics and might be considered the spokesman of the power. Language becomes a method of support for power when it is used for justifying and defending it or even for presenting it in a different and more acceptable look.
Furthermore, language can be used to disorientate and to confuse the simple population. Through his use of high language, the intellectual distracts peoples’ attention so that they will not be able to define the real problem nor to resolve it. Thus he can suffocate any ambition for change and protect power and guarantee its presence almost forever.
