CODE OF ETHICS
Publifarum is a peer-reviewed scientific journal based on the COPE's Core Practices: best practice guidelines for journal editors.
The journal manager, the editorial board, the editorial project coordinators, the authors and the reviewers must know and share the rules of best practice described below. Submitting an article implies full acceptance of the following rules.
Ethical guidelines for the editor, the editorial board and the editorial project coordinators
Publishing decisions
Publifarum adopts double-blind peer review. The editorial project coordinator of a single issue sends each article to two reviewers. The author does not know the identity of the reviewers and they do not know the identity of the author. At least two reviewers (and at most three, in case of discrepancies) are selected for each article. The coordinator, the editor and the editorial board are responsible for the evaluation process. The evaluators are chosen based on their expertise. The ultimate decision on the publication of the texts rests with the coordinator, the editor and the editorial board. The same evaluation process applies to the texts sent by the editorial staff and the editor.
Impartiality
The texts are exclusively evaluated according to their intellectual or scientific content, without distinction of any kind such as author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic group, nationality, academic membership or political convictions.
Confidentiality
The editor, the editorial project coordinators of an issue and the editorial board undertake not to divulge information about the submitted papers to theird parties (other than the editor, the author and the reviewers).
The data presented in the articles must not be utilized, before their possible publication, in the research work of a member of the editorial board, nor of a reviewer, without the written consent of the author.
The editorial board holds the evaluation results concerning both the texts that have been accepted for publication and those that have been rejected.
Conflict of interest
The members of the editorial board, the editor and the reviewers should decline the assignment in case of conflict of interest concerning one of the authors or the content of the manuscript to be reviewed.
Quality
The editor and the editorial board periodically monitor the peer review process in order to possibly improve it.
Ethical guidelines for reviewers
Contribution to the editorial decision
The double-blind peer review process helps the editorial board decide on the publication of articles and allows the author to adjust and improve his text.
Meeting deadlines
Any reviewer being aware either that he is not qualified to evaluate a manuscript or that he is not able to do it within a reasonable period of time should inform the editorial board and decline the assignment.
Confidentiality
Any paper submitted for publication will be handled as a confidential document. No information contained in a manuscript sent to the journal will be divulged to anyone other than the authors, the reviewers and possibly the editor.
Objectivity
The double-blind peer review process must be carried out in an anonymous and objective way. The evaluators should satisfactorily explain the reasons for their evaluation by using a standard form provided by the editorial board.
Conflict of interest and confidentiality
Information collected during the evaluation process should be considered as confidential. The members of the editorial board and the reviewers should decline the assignment in case of conflict of interest involving one of the authors or the content of the manuscript to be reviewed. The names of the reviewers will be published on the Publifarum website in the section "Reviewer board". The list will be periodically updated.
Ethical guidelines for authors
Originality and plagiarism
Authors should submit entirely original and unpublished manuscripts to the journal.
Multiple, redundant or concurrent publications
The authors agree not to submit an article previously published in another journal. Likewise, the authors agree not to submit their paper to more than one journal at the same time.
References
Any quotation (or use of works by other authors) should be specified and accompanied by appropriate references.
Mention of the authors
All the authors should be mentioned. The author who is in contact with the journal must make sure that only the appropriate co-authors are included in the list of authors and that all the co-authors, after seeing and approving the final version of their text, have agreed to submit the article for publication.
Conflict of interest
By submitting their paper to Publifarum journal, the authors exclude the existence of a conflict of interest. All the non-public funding sources that have supported the research presented in the submitted paper must be explicitly mentioned.
Typographical errors
Any author who discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his text after its publication is required to inform the journal editorial board without delay and to collaborate with it to correct the error.
