«C’est égal»: fragments d'une identité éclatée, entre fiction et autobiographie, à propos des dernières parutions d’Agota Kristof

In this first article are analysed the two last works by Agota Kristof, in the light of her novels and from an intertextual perspective. L’Analphabète (The illiterate person), that was defined by the author herself “récit autobiographique” (autobiographical story). It consists of eleven autobiographical literary fragments that announce, like comets, the themes that will be developed in the Trilogy. Writing in a foreign language, the use of the ironical “clowneries”, the exile full of suffering, the poetical challenge: everything seems already active in this autobiography of pain and exile. C’est égal (It’s all the same) presents twenty-five short stories, written at the beginning of her literary career. So these tales are really very significant exercises, in the style of the Trilogy’s twins, made of “silence, d’immobilité et de jeûne “ (silence, immobility and abstinence). Nevertheless, they are rich in poetic inspiration and in black humour, therefore they are able to express and summarize the suffering caused by exile, by the “brisure identitaire” (fracture of identity) and the double bind.
