Français québécois ? Le choix lexical d'élèves et étudiants québécois face à la question de l'avenir du français québécois

Abstract

Despite the progress that has been achieved within the language planning strategy in Québec, the position of the French language does not have obtained the stability that language policy aimed at. The legitimacy of the French language in official contexts is regularly questioned. Language planners consider the legitimization of Québec French as an absolute necessity to counteract these tendencies. Its codification seems to be the appropriate form of legitimacy. The study presented below analyzes language behaviour of young Quebecers in order to prove the usage of the endogenous variety (Québec French) by their lexical choices.
