Raconter le départ : « Cannibales » de Mahi Binebine

Abstract

The article presents a narratological and thematic reading of the novel Cannibales by Mahi Binebine. Deeply rooted in contemporary actuality, the plot depicts the pending departure of a group of dispossessed to the European Eldorado. Through the succession of narrative voices, for an interesting construction of polyphonic text, the author comes to describe the desperation and the below of the illegal migration, a brutal and inhumane 'system'. All the misery of the contemporary world is exposed in a text where we can find out a very precise authorial posture dealing with ethical and political commitment.
