Abstract

A survey was led with 165 young Quebeckers of the region of Montreal on their social and linguistic practices in the social network blogs. The students had to identify themselves according to an ethnolinguistic autolocation. Their answers to the first part of the survey are about their use of French in the everyday life and the second, about their linguistic and social manners on the social networks. The survey highlights among others the attachment of the French speakers of origin to their mother tongue, the low rate of bilingualism of the English speakers of origin and adoption, the fascination for the aura of English for all of the subgroups and especially the superiority of the social use of Web 2.0 on any ethnolinguistic consideration.
