Divergenze linguistiche ed interpretazione uniforme delle norme europee

Abstract

All the regulations drawn in all the official languages of the countries of the European Union have the same juridical value, but the indisputable rule “on paper”, is often very different from the reality. The interpretation of the regulation may not be uniform in all the languages in which is written and over the years there has been no lack of such cases. This paper addresses the issues of the European multilingualism, the evolving jurisprudence of the European Court Justice regarding this subject, and the possible role of a “lingua franca” introduced not to substitute national idioms but to be a functional tool to spread juridical, scientific and cultural knowledge.
