Abstract

The article considers as subject matter photography, photographic libraries and photo archives in universities. This proposal is intended to stand as a phalanx of a broader research, a reasoning that, in this occasion, focuses on a design proposal for a photographic library of the Department of Art History, conceived from the analysis of the corpus of glass slides by Giusta Nicco Fasola, first Professor of Medieval and Modern Art History of the University of Genoa. Particular attention is dedicated to the function that photographic objects held in the history of art teaching, within the job of the historians of the past, of today and of tomorrow, but also for its reading and interpretation within the places that host them.
