Métaphorisation et scénarisation de la rencontre amoureuse dans le slam

Abstract

More than a competition, French slam poetry is a poetic encounter. As such, it creates a collective space for expressing all kinds of emotions, thus moving (slamming, symbolically) the audience. As in lyrical poetry, love, and romantic encounter in particular, are topoi in slam poetry. The music of words and verse are conjugated in the creation of a modern type of lyricism. Numerous devices are geared towards musicality while metaphors and mise en abyme produce a form of theatricality. The aim of this paper is to analyse the use that three slammers make of these metaphors and to examine the staging effects in the narrative of the romantic encounter.
