Julia Kristeva's novel, The Samurai (1990) represents the environment of structuralist intellectuals from the mid-1960s until the end of the 1980s, through the analysis of their projects in the experience of May 68. The Kristeva’s samurais promise a particular revolt that occurs not in the factories, nor in the streets, but in the field of language. By what means and with what arguments does this approach take place? Between distance and adherence, hindsight and contiguity, we want to question those points of contact that make the experience of the French avantgarde a coherent continuum with the “years” of May 68.
