Abstract

L'Organisation tells about the Maoist youth of the narrator and his departure from militancy. Jean Rolin mixes comical anecdotes and melancholic moments; he switches between the mockery of the Maoist rhetoric and the painful questioning of the narrator's role not only inside the “Organisation”, but also from a wider and existential point of view. The essay tries to show how this text – published in 1996 – lays the groundwork for Rolin's poetics, which rules his errant narratives, often filled with the presence of a militant past and with the theme of the end of ideologies.
