Abstract

With Un arbre en mai, Jean-Christophe Bailly cuts short the vein of commemoration of the days of May 68, which seized the cultural year 2018. In a lively text, between autobiographical scene and wandering essay, the author mainly solicits remnants of German romanticism to unframe Parisian events. This is not a way to update the event, but to take an anachronistic look at it, like so many breakaways and mental drifts.
