Two historical facts shed light on aspects of Samuel Beckett’s works which have been somewhat overlooked. First is the fact that the first to understand deeply Waiting for Godot without any difficulties were convicts in jail. Second, since Beckett's death there has been a radically different approach to his theatre. These two apparently unrelated facts reveal a very strong link between Beckett's works and the visible and invisible prisons. Both come to light as a result of the Technique of the power of Modernity (biopower) which tries to tame, train and control, in other words, to imprison Life.
