Abstract

The presence of writers and artists in prison and their testimony of their experiences and the relationship and collaboration with prisoners, are the objects of this study. The presentation of four works: three literary texts by François Bon, Philippe Claudel and Aude Siméon, and a book of texts and photographs by Bettina Rheims is accompanied by a reflection on the implication of French artistic and literary creation in contemporary reality and its outcomes. We illustrate how the artistic and literary device becomes a heuristic tool and a means to develop public knowledge.
