L'image installée : une alternative au grand format (à propos de « Nantes-Pornic » d'Emmanuel Pinard)
Abstract
Nowadays a number of artists propose devices which include their photographs in complex unities associating different mediums ; they choose not to isolate their pictures as self-sufficient objects, but to unite them with various components : texts, objects, graphic or sonorous elements, and so on. The spatial location, the respective position of the different components influence approach and rythms of perception; they contribute to originate meaningness. This type of work offers an alternative to the big-size pictures which have at present invaded the areas of exposure. The installation “Nantes-Pornic” by Emmanuel Pinard (2015) exemplifies this possibility. Its merit is due to a sober and simplified organization which favours a strict and effective investigation of urban space and its arrangement.
