Abstract

Gabriele d’Annunzio’s relationship with music and musicians has been probably more intensive, sophisticated, and conscious than that of any Italian writer in the first half of the 20th century. D’Annunzio’s interest, expertise, and sensibility towards music can be traced in a great variety of literary forms, covering the fields of prose, poetry, arts song, spoken theatre and opera.
