The recent introduction in France of “research-creation” theses that combine research and literary creation is shaking up the French tradition of research in literature, marked by mistrust for style and rhetoric, in the name of a requirement for scientificity. These new theses are characterized by a reflective stance, the sometimes recourse to narrative forms, even try of “theoretical fiction”. They often approach the plasticity of the essay, reconciling style and thought, approaching writing in its heuristic dimension.
