The diatopic dimension is by and large the backdrop of Italian language continuum, without giving rise to stigmatizing or depreciative assessments however, unlike the francophone area where diatopy is regarded as periphery of language system. Based on the answers to an online questionnaire on didactic practices as well as linguistic representations, then sent to every high school in Italy, this paper intends to analyze how the Italian speakers-teachers of FLE perceive French language in Quebec, as persons coming from a sociolinguistic context where the geographic variability of language is ubiquitous
