Adaptation de "Nymphéas noirs" de Michel Bussi en bande dessinée : entre fidélité et création

Abstract

This article looks at an illustrative case of the relationship between comics, literature and painting. It concerns Nymphéas noirs, the comic adaptation of Michel Bussi's crime novel by scriptwriter Fred Duval and illustrator Didier Cassegrain. The aim of our study is therefore to explore the ways in which this transposition takes place. We begin by looking at the techniques of graphic writing that give rise to the configurations of the fictional universe. A comparative analysis of the novel and the album reveals a number of similarities and differences between them, and examines the transformations undergone by the original text. We then look at how the comic strip adaptation can be seen as a recreation of the pre-existing work, and the extent to which it contributes to creativity and aesthetic renewal. Finally, we show that the porosity of borders gives comic strip artists a great deal of freedom, enabling them to make comics a space for interdisciplinary cultural encounters.
